Gem Gallery provides fine jewelry, quality repair and custom design services while extending unsurpassed customer service. As a team member of an independent and locally owned jeweler, you will have the opportunity to learn many aspects of this multifaceted business. We remain competitive in an ever-changing market by continually developing the skills needed to enable success. You’ll enjoy assisting returning and new clients in purchasing special pieces, as well as taking in repairs on their favorite piece of jewelry. The position will require careful handling of fine jewelry, including processing inventory, pricing, tagging and displaying jewelry.
Sales Consultant Position
Sales focused full-time position focusing on client services, clienteling and sales.
Hours Tuesday-Saturday 9:30am-6pm (Wednesdays 8:45am-6pm for team meetings)
-additional hours for special events
Starting wage: $23/hour plus commission and bonuses. Higher wage available for significant direct experience.
Sales & Clienteling
- Greeting customers.
- Inspecting & cleaning jewelry
- Keeping a log of client interactions and following up within 24 hours of their initial visit to keep them engaged and close the sale
- Presenting jewelry from showcases
- Special orders of non-inventory purchases
- Clientelling (Thank you cards, outreach, follow up)
Client Services
- Taking in Client repairs
- Quoting recommended repairs
- Consulting Goldsmiths on complicated repairs
- Prepping items for Gold buys/Gold Buy check-ins
- Prepping items for Grading for Appraisals
- Calling customers when the repairs are ready to be picked up
General Responsibilities
- Set up and Breakdown
- Cleaning showcases
- Cleaning Jewelry in showcases
- Merchandising of Jewelry in backstock
- Remerchandising of areas where items have sold
- Housekeeping in showroom and sales areas
- Restocking of sales materials (jewelry boxes, bags, etc.)
- Creating storestock repairs for inventory that needs to be repaired by Goldsmiths
- Answering phones
- Stone matching when needed (Shared with Sales team)
- Miscellaneous tasks assigned by Management
Sales Consultant Requirements:
- 1-3 years jewelry sales background is a plus
- Enjoys working with people and comfortable with approaching potential clients
- Creative and artistic flair
- Professional, polite demeanor
- Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Flexibility to work days, special events, weekends and holidays.
- Ability to collaborate and function as a member of a team
- Knowledgeable with computers and frequent use of point of sale software
- Gemology knowledge and G.I.A. certification would be a plus
