Artist's Statement
Inspired by Roman and Renaissance period Arabesque style vine-and-leaf architectural relief carvings, this ring sets out to prove that floral does not have to be delicate. I let the incredible rich green of this Montana Sapphire do the heavy lifting of establishing a nature theme, and used simple flowing curves, textures, and a dramatic floating setting to reinforce it. I think about this ring's design as a sculptural picture frame for a truly one-of-a-kind Montana treasure.
